背景

位于塞伦盖蒂国家公园边缘、以使命为导向的耐力赛事。

Our story

The Serengeti Anti-Poaching Run is a purpose-driven endurance event on the edge of the Serengeti National Park. The race was established in 2020 and is organised and managed by the Serengeti Tourism Sports Agency (SETSA), headquartered in the town of Mugumu, Serengeti District, Tanzania.

The primary objective of the race is to educate the community about the conservation and preservation of the Serengeti ecosystem, and to combat illegal poaching both within and outside Serengeti National Park.

The course and the setting

The course runs along open murram roads across exposed savannah, where dust, heat and wildlife shape the challenge. This is not a closed-city race: expect wide horizons, light traffic and a direct connection to the land you are running for. The atmosphere is grounded and authentic, shaped by local communities, conservation teams and runners who come with clear intent.

The event takes place within the Serengeti ecosystem, involving part of Serengeti National Park, the Ikorongo and Grumeti Game Reserves and the Ikona Wildlife Management Area (Ikona WMA) - a community wildlife management area. Hundreds of participants from inside and outside Tanzania take part, mostly runners, conservation and tourism enthusiasts and stakeholders.

Our goals

  • Raise awareness for better conservation of the Serengeti ecosystem.
  • Combat illegal hunting and poaching.
  • Promote wildlife and sports tourism in western Serengeti.
  • Collect donations and equipment to support anti-poaching patrols.

All proceeds support anti-poaching initiatives and the long-term conservation of the Serengeti ecosystem for future generations.
