What is the Serengeti Anti-Poaching Run?

The Serengeti Anti-Poaching Run is a charity running event on the edge of Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. Established in 2020 and organised by the Serengeti Tourism Sports Agency (SETSA) in Mugumu, it brings runners, conservationists and local communities together to raise awareness and funds against illegal poaching.

Race day: 12 September 2027

All races start and finish at Fort Ikoma. The 15 km starts at 6:30 AM, the 10 km Executive Anti-Poaching Run at 6:45 AM and the 5 km Family Fun Run at 7:00 AM. Arrive at the assembly point at least 30 minutes before your start.

Entry fees

  • East African citizens: TZS 45,000
  • Non-East African citizens: USD 45.50
  • VIP runners and groups: USD 80

Fees are non-refundable, so check your availability before you pay.

Kit collection and transport

Race kits are issued from 1 to 11 September, 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM, at SETCO College in Mugumu, and on 10-11 September at Fort Ikoma. Free buses leave Sokoine Stadium in Mugumu at 5:15 AM on race morning, and free parking is available at Fort Ikoma.

How to register

Register online in three steps: complete your runner profile, choose a registration package (and optionally a safari package), then pay with a card or mobile money. Your BIB number and confirmation arrive by email and WhatsApp.

Why it matters

A share of every entry fee after operating costs supports patrol equipment for game rangers and village game scouts protecting the Serengeti ecosystem. When you run, you help keep the Serengeti wild.
