1. Governance
The Serengeti Anti-Poaching Run is organised in accordance with the rules and regulations of World Athletics (formerly IAAF) and Athletics Tanzania (AT), under the provisions below.
2. Race registration rules & regulations
- An entry is processed only after full payment of the registration fee.
- Participants of 15 km and above must be over 18 years of age.
- Participants in the 10 km Executive Run and 5 km Family Fun Run under 18 must be accompanied at all times by a responsible adult (children aged 7-12 must run with their responsible guardian).
- All participants must ensure they are medically fit to take part.
- The organiser (SETSA) may contact and interview applicants by phone for additional information relating to this charity event.
- The organisers are not responsible for disputes arising from incomplete or incorrect entry details provided by a runner.
- The organisers may refuse entry to applicants who give false information, do not pay, are banned under World Athletics/AT jurisdiction, have taken banned substances or do not meet the entry requirements.
- The organisers may limit or refuse entries and close registration early, without notice, when a race is full.
- BIB numbers are not transferable to other persons or future events. Every participant must be registered, given an entry number and recorded in the organisers' register.
- Anyone running without a valid registration and BIB commits an offence; if such a person (or someone using another's number) wins, they are not eligible for any gift or prize money.
- Every participant must wear their BIB clearly from start to finish. A runner who does not will not be recognised as a valid participant and is responsible for themselves; the organiser will provide no support.
3. Race participation
- Organisers take every reasonable precaution, but participants run at their own risk. The organisers are not liable for any loss or damage, personal or otherwise, because the run takes place within a wildlife conservation area.
- SETSA, as organiser, and the official event sponsors may use participants' personal data, contact information, photographs, recordings and other records collected during the race or submitted for the event for legitimate purposes, including commercial advertising, re-marketing and marketing of the organiser's and sponsors' products.
- An official race number must be worn on the front of the singlet/shirt.
- Personal trainers, mentors or coaches are not allowed on the course unless entered and wearing an official BIB.
- No unofficial vehicles, motorbikes or bicycles on the course. No pets on the course.
- BIB numbers and timing chips are not transferable.
- Elite and social runners must follow the instructions of stewards, race officials or Tanzania Traffic Police at all times.
- All participants must start at the official start line and complete the full officially measured course.
- A runner must retire immediately if required by any member of the official medical team (reflective jacket and official ID).
4. Finish of the event
- Road closures are lifted by the Tanzania Police on the published schedule. The road opening signifies the finish of the event; any competitor still on the course afterwards is excluded from the results.
- After roads reopen, Tanzanian traffic regulations apply and any runner still on the road is regarded as a pedestrian.
- A trail vehicle or stragglers' bus will advise late runners that roads are about to reopen.
5. Conformity
It is the runner's responsibility to know the event rules, race formats, times and routes published in the Runner's Guide / event timetable in the race pack. Failure to comply may lead to disqualification.
6. Refund policy
No refund for any purchased ticket; the registration fee is not refundable. Travel and accommodation costs remain the participant's responsibility, and if the event changes or is cancelled for operational reasons the organiser is not responsible for costs incurred by the participant.
